Intro

Spending 20 minutes copy-pasting logos into a pitch deck should be ancient history, right? Believe it or not, for many, it's still a common struggle. The fear of change often holds people back despite the potential for significant time savings. 

We chatted with Katrina Falcon, Marketing Director at Comhar Partners, and she explained how taking that leap of faith changed everything for the firm, the team, and their day-to-day. 

“Comhar Partners is a retained executive recruiting firm, which means that we help companies find senior-level professionals to fill open roles.”

The importance of content marketing in the recruitment landscape

Recruiting C-level employees is a whole different ball game than for lower positions. Writing a fancy job description with emojis won't be enough if you want to attract the best talents. And content can change everything. 

“Content marketing plays a huge role within Comhar Partners. I would say it's 50/50 in terms of what we do. When we market ourselves, the root of Comhar Partners truly lies in data and content marketing.”

Katrina explained that the team had 3 main issues when it came to content creation before using Foleon: 

  1. They wanted a way to stand out from their competition
  2. The creation process was long and cumbersome
  3. Content wasn't effectively supporting their client relationships

Missing out on opportunities

Comhar Partners had already started using Foleon for their customer marketing before Katrina joined the team. 

“When I first started, back in 2021, we only used it to display position profiles for our clients. In doing so, that showed essentially the job description, role and responsibilities, experience requirements, the competencies for success, and an overview of the company.”

She reflected on how great the platform was to create these job descriptions. At that time, they hadn't yet considered using it for their own marketing needs. Missing out on a lot of opportunities to brand themselves as well as their customers. 

Losing time over repetitive tasks

Using Foleon only to create content for their customers, the team still dealt with repetitive content creation tasks in their own sales pitches.

“Back in the day, we created these capabilities presentations using PowerPoint. We had a page of logos, and I kid you not, we were sitting there switching out these logos and copy-pasting these company descriptions one by one on PowerPoint.

Creating these capabilities decks had become a dreaded task for the team. 

“When you have a tedious task, you feel bad asking your team to do it because you know there has to be a better solution. It had become one of those dreaded tasks, the one you put at the bottom of your to-do list because you just don’t want to get it done.”

Katrina commented on how other recruiting firms usually create content. Using static job descriptions. 

“Many recruiting firms are sending out static PDFs that are simply attached to emails and hoping for the best. Using a digital marketing presentation like the ones that Foleon offers is what distinguishes Comhar Partners within the recruiting space.

She also reflected on how they use the platform to transform the content they receive from their customers. 

“Typically, when we first meet with a client, they hand over a static job description of the role they want us to help fill. We take that and put it into Foleon, turning it into a dynamic marketing piece that outlines not just the role but positions our client in the best light. Before we even get to the job description, we’ve highlighted what makes the company so special by embedding videos, linking articles, and showcasing recent awards. We’re essentially selling the company, not just the role.”

Adopting a powerful distinguisher 

Comhar Partners started using Foleon for their job descriptions in 2018. At the time, it was already a great way to stand out from other recruitment agencies, but they quickly realized they could do so much more with it.

The turning point

While working on one of these capabilities presentations, Katrina had an epiphany. 

“As we were doing these repetitive tasks, a light bulb went off in my head. I realized we have this great tool that we use for our clients; we should use it for ourselves.”

As they pitched Foleon as their main differentiator to potential customers, they felt they should also use that for their own brand. And so, they started using Foleon for their own needs as well. 

“If I was telling these potential clients that a PDF isn't going to get opened, and that's why our marketing is so much better than other firms, why weren't we using it ourselves to help get new clients? That was a big turning point for us.”

And they never looked back. 

Faster processes thanks to Personalization & more

As they rolled out Foleon into their internal processes, the team saw huge potential for Foleon's personalization capabilities. 

“Personalization was one of the greatest things for us to roll out.”

Working closely with Foleon's team, they built a unique solution that improved their processes significantly. 

“Working with the Foleon team, we created an entire API for our database. From that, we were able to use the personalization tool by grabbing our data and pushing it into Foleon.

With this new solution, they were able to populate personalized progress reports that they would use during their weekly customer calls. 

“The fact that this was now a one-click report that populated and could be pulled up on screen during those weekly check-in calls was huge for us.”

With this, the team was able to dedicate 75% of their time to other matters, such as focusing on the opening of their new sister company. 

“It turned something that typically took twenty minutes into a five-minute task. To this day, we've got over a hundred different industry-specific capabilities and decks. It's so nice.”

With no more repetitive manual tasks, the team was able to allocate their time and resources to more strategic matters. 

“Having that all there was a huge game changer for us. Prior to that, managing directors and project managers were filling out Microsoft Word progress reports by hand.”

Foleon also allowed the marketing team to work closer with the sales team and enable them better.

“If someone on the sales team requests a presentation, it's so nice to just jump in there and grab one for any industry, and it's just ready to go. That was a huge time saver.”

Differentiating themselves through content

How often do you see engaging and dynamic job descriptions? Probably not a lot. 

This is actually an advantage for Comhar Partners. 

"One of our biggest selling points, when we pitch ourselves to a potential client, is the fact that we use these digital marketing presentations, aka all of our Foleons."

Katrina emphasized how big of an impact it has on their sales process. 

“I actually joke that I want us to be the only recruiting firm using Foleon! I say that because when we pitch to potential clients, I emphasize that our biggest differentiator is our digital marketing."

Improved Client Relationship

Working with Foleon improved their customer meetings. With personalized progress reports, customers are always up-to-date on the situation of their recruitment. For customers, knowing that Comhar Partners has it all under control is a big relief. 

“When we tell our clients all of what we do on their behalf, they absolutely love it.

Expanding the use of Foleon across teams

The team now uses the platform across 7 different use cases, including Brand Marketing, Customer Marketing, and Stakeholder Engagement. They also expanded the platform to their sales team in order to streamline the content creation process. 

“We've really expanded our use of Foleon. Now, we use it to display presentations on industry-specific capabilities. We have created a fact sheet for everyone on our sales team. We also have industry-specific newsletters.”

It quickly became a vital part of their marketing strategy.

“The fact that I use it for so many different avenues within marketing is invaluable. I can't imagine doing what we do day in and day out without Foleon, from our industry-specific newsletters to branding ourselves.

Don't underestimate the role content can play in your internal processes, recruitment, demand generation… and other similar areas. It could be a big game-changer for your team.
