Google domain ownership verification is a process that confirms your control and ownership of the domain on which your Doc is hosted. In this article, we give recommendations for verifying domain ownership — depending on your hosting situation.
What is ownership verification?
Google domain ownership verification is a process that confirms your control and ownership of the domain on which your Doc is hosted. By verifying your domain in Google Search Console, you can access various tools and insights to monitor and optimize your Foleon Doc's performance in Google search results.
It involves implementing specific verification methods, such as adding a verification code or DNS record, to demonstrate your ownership, granting you access to valuable data, search appearance optimization features, and indexing control options within Google Search Console.
What are the benefits?
Verifying domain ownership in Google Search Console offers several benefits for Foleon Doc owners. Here are some of the key advantages:
- Access to website data — Gain valuable insights into your website's performance in Google search results, including search queries, impressions, click-through rates, and indexing status.
- Search appearance optimization — Optimize your Doc's visibility by addressing crawl errors, mobile usability issues, and structured data validation errors, improving its appearance in search results.
- Indexing control — Take charge of how Google indexes your Doc by submitting sitemaps, requesting URL removals, and monitoring indexing status, ensuring proper crawling and indexing for increased visibility.
Choose a verification method for your Foleon Docs
Depending on how you host your Foleon Docs, there are several different verification methods. We've listed these options below:
- If you're hosting Docs on a custom domain — You can verify domain ownership with the Domain name provider method. Follow the steps in Google's documentation.
- If you're hosting Docs on a (free) Foleon domain — There are three methods to choose from:
- HTML tag — To implement in the remarketing field in the Doc settings.
- Google Analytics tracking code — To implement in the project settings.
- Google Tag Manager (GTM) — To implement in the GTM field.
