Custom Ad Placement in Foleon Docs

Foleon Docs give you full flexibility when it comes to integrating advertising. Because Foleon pages are fully customizable and responsive, there’s no single formula for placing ads. However, there are strategic choices that can help you create a seamless reader experience while incorporating advertisements.

Understanding ad placement in Foleon

There are no fixed ad templates in Foleon. Instead, you can add advertisements manually using blocks or elements. This means you control the advertisements' size, layout, and frequency.

Because every team’s needs and sponsor formats differ, there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to placing ads in a Foleon Doc. Many companies create their own internal guidelines for where, when, and how to include ads. Below, you'll find three examples of Foleon Docs with ads.

💡 Foleon Docs are responsive. All images and content, including ads, automatically scale to fit different screen sizes.

Tips for ad placement and format

Since there are no fixed positions or dimensions for ad content, here’s how we recommend thinking about ad setup:

  • Placement: Ads can be placed anywhere on a page — top, middle, bottom, or between sections. Some users include ads on every page, while others opt for strategic placements, like a banner every few pages.
  • Size: Ads are typically added as images within a block. Because of Foleon’s responsive design, there’s no single “ideal” size — all visuals will scale to fit. It’s best to adapt your ad placement based on the layout of your Doc. For image ads that include text, double-check how the ad appears on mobile to ensure that all text remains legible across devices.
  • Links: You can add a link to an image in Foleon. However, note that each image can link to only one URL. If you need to include multiple links within an ad, consider breaking the ad into separate images or rebuilding it in a native Foleon format. This allows you to link each section individually while maintaining a cohesive design.

👉 Create a Template: We recommend building templates with placeholder space for ads. This helps maintain visual consistency and reduces setup time. To do this, you can add a placeholder image on your page or use a colored column or block to reserve space.

Below is an example of how your template might look. The blue blocks indicate where ads can be placed.

Examples of ads in Foleon Docs

Below you’ll find a few examples of ad placements that you can replicate on your Docs:

Example 1: Ads placed in a visual grid

Ads placed inside a visual grid work well for visually rich pages. These ads blend with the design while remaining separate from the actual content.

Example 2: Banner at the bottom of a page

If you don’t want to disrupt the readers' flow, create a banner at the bottom of your page. The ad acts as a “footer” after the main content on the page.

Example 3: Banner throughout your page

For article-style layouts that are text-heavy, you can place ads as banners throughout the page. Interspersing ads between text sections helps break up content and ensures visibility.
